Up and running in five minutes
No phone number, no email, no forms. Your keys are generated on your device and the network takes it from there.
Install DChat
Grab the app for Android today. iOS, desktop and the web app are coming soon, and every platform will speak to the same network with the same encryption.
Create your identity
On first launch DChat generates a key pair on your device. That key pair is your account: your address on the network, your signature, and the lock on everything you send. It never leaves the device.
Write down your recovery phrase
You'll be shown a recovery phrase once. It is the only way back into your identity and wallet if you lose the device - we cannot reset it, and that is deliberate. Write it on paper, keep it offline.
Find your people
Share your DChat address or QR code. No contact upload, no "find friends" permission - connections happen because two people chose to connect.
Say something
Send a message, start a call, or send crypto in the same thread. Everything is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device, and everything hops the swarm with nobody in the middle.
Understanding your DChat address
Your address is derived from your cryptographic key pair. It is what identifies you on the network.
How to find people on DChat
Because there is no central user directory, finding contacts works differently than traditional apps.
Direct address entry
If someone gives you their DChat address, paste it into the new conversation screen. The app verifies the address format before sending.
QR code scan
Every DChat profile has a QR code. Open the scanner from the add-contact screen and point it at another person's code to add them instantly.
Username search
Every account has a username, chosen during setup, so you can search for anyone by name. Note that the username registry is public: a username resolves to a wallet address for anyone who queries the chain.
Where to next
Back up your recovery phrase first, then read exactly what DChat can and cannot see. The guides go deeper on groups, the wallet and the security model. If your team wants DChat under its own brand - cloud or on-prem - that's the Enterprise page.
