Message history lives on your devices, not on a server - the phrase restores your identity, contacts and wallet. If another of your devices is online, history re-syncs from it, encrypted end-to-end.
One tick means the swarm accepted the message; two means the recipient's device confirmed it. If they stay on one, the recipient has been offline - the message is queued encrypted and delivers when they return.
In-chat payments settle on-chain, so they inherit block time. Pending almost always means the network is busy; the transaction link in the message opens the explorer so you can watch it confirm.
