Troubleshooting
One tick that never becomes two, missing notifications, empty chats, failed calls, storage.
Message stuck on one tick
One tick means a relay node accepted your message; two ticks means the recipient's device has it. If you're stuck on one, the recipient's device hasn't come online to collect it yet. Relays keep retrying delivery and hold the message for up to 14 days, so it will still arrive once they're back online.
Message never arrived
Relay nodes hold undelivered messages for up to 14 days (30 days for configuration/key messages), then delete them. If the recipient's device stayed offline longer than that window, the message is gone and won't retry further. Check the tick status first, see above, before assuming this is what happened.
I restored and my chats are empty
This is expected on its own: your 24-word phrase restores your identity and wallet keys only, not your message history. Go through the Backup & Restore step, "Search DChat cloud" or a local .dmbackup file, described in getting your chat history back. If you skipped that step during sign-in, it isn't offered again automatically.
Notifications not arriving
Check Settings → Notifications and confirm which delivery mode is active: Push Notifications, Battery Saving, or Always Connected. Battery Saving trades notification speed for battery life by design. Also check that your phone's system-level battery optimization isn't restricting DChat from running in the background, since that overrides any in-app setting.
Call won't connect
Confirm the app has camera and microphone permission, and that you have a working internet connection. Some restrictive networks (corporate firewalls, some public Wi-Fi) block the connection types calls need. Try switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data or the reverse, then retry.
Media won't load
Photos, videos, and files are fetched from encrypted storage over the network, so a slow or unstable connection can delay them. Retry once you have a stronger connection; the message itself isn't lost.
App is slow or storage is full
Check Settings → Data & Storage to see what's using space on your device and clear what you don't need. A very large chat history or a lot of cached media is the usual cause.
Can't add a contact
Double-check the identifier: a wallet address must start with dc1 a username must match exactly, and a DID must be in the form did:dchat:…. If it's correct and still fails, the other person's "Who Can Contact You" setting may be limited to Contacts Only, in which case they need to add you first or change that setting.
Wallet balance looks wrong or a transaction is stuck pending
In-chat and wallet payments settle on-chain, so they inherit block time, "pending" almost always just means the network hasn't confirmed it yet. Open the transaction in the explorer (linked from the payment) to watch it confirm. If a balance still looks wrong after a transaction has confirmed, check the explorer directly for your address; it's the source of truth.
