Your username, your dc1 address, what the chain makes public, privacy controls and app lock.
Display name vs username
Your username is the handle you set (or change) subject to the rules in Choosing a username; people can add you by searching it. Your display name is the label shown above your messages in chat, editable any time from Settings → Account & Profile. People can find you by username, address, or DID even if your display name doesn't match what they expect.
Your dc1… address, what's public on the chain, and sharing your profile QR
Your account address is derived from your key pair and always starts with dc1. It never changes and is safe to share, it cannot be used to decrypt anything or move funds by itself. Be clear-eyed about what it exposes, though: the chain is a public ledger, and identity records on it are queryable by anyone.

Treat the on-chain identity registry as a public directory: username, DID, and wallet address linking is not private. Share your profile from Settings → Wallet & Blockchain → "Share Profile QR"; share a payment-ready QR from the same screen with "Share Wallet QR."
Blocking someone
Block a contact from their chat or profile screen. Once blocked, they can no longer reach you through the app. Review or unblock anyone later from Settings → Blocked Contacts.
Contact and group privacy controls
Two settings decide who can initiate contact with you:
- Who Can Contact You Everyone, or Contacts Only.
- Who Can Add Me to Groups Everyone, My Contacts, Selected Contacts, or Nobody.
Both live in Settings under Group Privacy / the privacy section of your account settings.
App lock with biometrics
App Lock (Settings → App Lock) adds a biometric unlock step with a lock timeout you configure. It is not turned on during onboarding, turn it on afterward if you want it.
Changing your language
Settings → Language & Region lets you switch between the five languages DChat currently ships with: English, Arabic, Persian/Farsi, Kurdish Sorani, and Pashto.
