Creating a group (and the 100-member limit)
Start a group from the new-chat flow and add members from your contacts. DChat enforces a hard cap of 100 members, shown on the creation screen and checked again as you add people.
Admins and members: the two roles
There are exactly two roles, Admin and Member. There is no separate Owner role; whoever creates the group simply starts out as an Admin, with no special status beyond that.
Invite links and join requests
Share a group's invite link to let someone ask to join. They'll see a "Request to Join" prompt, and an admin has to approve it before they're let in.
Why new members can't see history
Each group member holds their own sending key, and messages are encrypted directly to the keys held by the current membership at the time they're sent. Someone who joins later was never issued the keys that protected earlier messages, so there's nothing for their device to decrypt going backward. This is a property of how the group is keyed, not a setting you can toggle.
Group keys when someone leaves or is removed
When someone leaves or is removed, DChat rotates every remaining member's sending key so that person can no longer read anything sent afterward. This rotation is performed by the DChat app itself at the moment of removal or leave, it goes member by member, and a failure for one member doesn't stop the rest. On rare partial failures, the routine periodic key rotation eventually closes the gap.
Group disappearing messages, and why there's no channel type
Groups support the same five disappearing-message options as direct chats, applied to the group going forward from when it's turned on. DChat has one kind of multi-person conversation, the group, capped at 100 members, and no separate broadcast-style "channel" with unlimited subscribers. If you need something channel-like, a group is the closest thing available today.
